Per a blog post shared with CoinDesk, Coinbase customers can now sign up to stake their ETH into the Beacon Chain smart contract, the coordinator and bridge between the old Ethereum and Ethereum 2.0, the network’s momentous migration to a proof-of-stake network. This upgrade will do away with proof-of-work mining in favor of staking.

In a post published on November 30, 2020 on their blog, Coinbase announced that the exchange plans to deploy staking and conversion services for ETH 2.0. Once the infrastructure is in place, customers of Coinbase will be able to convert their tokens ETH towards ETH2 and, thus be able to benefit from staking. Just hours before the launch of Ethereum 2.0, Coinbase, America’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, decided to give a warm welcome to the evolution of the world’s largest blockchain after Bitcoin. Now, traders and hodlers waiting for the ETH2 upgrade had confirmation from Coinbase that the exchange would enable an ETH2 currency staking service.
